Explain how your experience affected you as a person?
I became much more confident. I feel like I really improved my communication skills and I'm more willing to approach people and strike up a conversation.
How did you change?
I became more willing to try things that I know I'm not good at or I might fail at. I think this is a really important thing for me. While in Colorado, many of the things I did were very challenging for me. Often I was one of the slowest people, struggling to keep up. This is something that is hard for me because I hate the feeling of failure or feeling like I'm not good at something. However, going through this experience showed me that just because you're not the best at something, doesn't mean you can't try. In fact, reaching the top of the mountain felt even better because I knew how hard I had worked to get there.
How do you see the world differently than you did before?
I see more opportunity than before. I am less afraid to try new things that would have scared me before because I know that sometimes you have to take a chance on something new. I am less afraid to be on my own, and more ready to be independent.
Was this a meaningful experience? Why or why not?
This was definitely a meaningful experience for me. I met amazing people and learned so much about myself and about life while having a ton of fun in the process. I am so grateful that I got to have this experience because I know that I am a different person because of it.
What new knowledge or skills did you learn from this?
While at camp, I learned a lot about how to be a good leader. We learned how to talk to people and how to deal with conflicts and so many other things that make me feel more confident when working with other people.
How would you do it differently if you had to start over?
If I could start over, I wouldn't do anything differently.
